It's Not You, It's Me
As we get older, the dating world gets more difficult. Out of my group of friends, I’m the only single one, and although they don’t treat me like it..I always feel like the 3rd or 5th wheel. I’ve heard a lot of things about match.com and decided to give it a go. I’ve been on for about a month and haven’t had much success. The trouble’s I’ve found were that I’m not interested in the person/vice versa, conversations usually go no-where, or we have nothing in common. I received a message about a week ago from this guy, who we had so much in common. I enjoyed communicating with him, had a lot of laughs over the phone, and really got a great vibe from him. I thought to myself that this could be something great! So we met this past weekend and he took me out for dinner and drinks. The minute I saw him I felt a connection. I can’t tell you one thing we didn’t have in common or that went wrong. Long story short, it was amazing and he asked me to go out again the following week. He was gonna pick me up and we were gonna go to dinner (Oh and the date lasted 4 hours! -- I thought that was a great sign too!) The next day we spoke and had a few conversations. I haven’t heard from him the next few days so I decided to send him a text to see how he was. He messaged me back and pulled the “its not you its me” card. Are you kidding????? You tell me you like me, you lead me on, you plan a future date with me, and now all of a sudden you change your mind? Has this happened to anyone? I just don’t understand guy’s logic. It’s so frustrating and ruins my self-esteem and makes me think that “Hmm---is it really me??? Did I do something?? Am I THAT fat and unattractive?” My self-esteem went way down, but after talking to people they made me realize that maybe God has something else planned for me. Maybe it was better off. And so all I want to know is if that’s happened to anyone else and why do you think it happens?
Anywayyyyys Since I’ve been having the house to myself, I decided to take advantage of it, and cook myself another healthy, delicious meal. Last night I whipped up some baked chicken cutlets, plus Brussel sprouts and brown rice. MMM it was super tasty and super healthy!!!
Recipe: Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken

Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Place chicken cutlets on lined baking tray, sprinkled with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- Brush tablespoons of sweet and sour sauce onto the cutlets, and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Recipe: Brussel Sprouts
2 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 package Brussel sprouts
- ¼ cup chopped white or yellow onion
- Salt, pepper
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
- Cut the stems of the Brussel sprouts off, the cut in half diagonally.
- On medium-high heat, heat 2 tbs of olive oil in skillet, then add onions and garlic until brown.
- Throw in the Brussel sprouts, and cook for about 10-10 minutes or until crispy and brown.
Rice: I bought the Uncle Bens easy 90 minute pouch (brown rice). So much easier and one less pot I had to wash :)
I’ve started to run again, and health wise, I feel great! Very happy with my progress almost 10 pounds down. I’m really thankful for having the opportunity to start this blog. I feel that writing about eating healthy and exercising is a constant motivator for me to stay focused and achieve my goals!
